Marian Skinner, born in Beaumont, Texas, graduated from South Park High School and obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from Lamar University in 1977. She began her nursing career at Beaumont Medical Surgical Hospital in 1977. Other areas of nursing experience include office nurse from 1978-1981, at which time she remained at home to have her two beautiful children. Her daughter graduated from Southwest College of Law working in Houston and her son graduated from Lamar University with a Biology degree, working at Exxon Mobil in the Environmental Department. In 1985 she was employed by Texas Medical Foundation with the introduction of DRGs. Later in 1985 she was recruited by Doctors Hospital in Groves, Texas beginning a 17 year career holding the following jobs; floor nursing, Head Nurse and manager over the Medical Surgical Units in 1989. She became the Director of Nurses in 1996 and ending her association with Doctors Hospital in 2000. In 2001 she began her job at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital as the Associate of Quality Improvement and moving to Risk Management in 2004 until 2006. She accepted employment with Altus Healthcare Management Services in 2007 accepting the Coordinator of Quality and Risk Management position in Beaumont. The job responsibilities grew to Director of Quality and Risk Management adding the Baytown Ambulatory Center.
Marian is currently the Regional Director of Quality and Risk Management of the Freestanding Emergency Centers and the Beaumont location. She enjoys her church activities as Eucharistic Minister, RCIA Coordinator, and her granddaughter of 6 years. She also likes to cook, hunt, do crafts, travel and work in the yard during her free time.
