Q: Why would you come to Altus Emergency?

A: Altus Emergency Centers like hospital emergency rooms never close our doors. We offer the highest quality of services right on site with our lab, X-ray, CAT scan, and ultrasounds. At our emergency centers, you will always be treated immediately by a physician that is fully licensed and specially trained in emergency care. Unlike most Emergency Centers, we offer little to no wait times, easy access parking, and a relaxed environment better suited to caring for you and your family. At Altus Emergency Centers, you can get the care you deserve without the financial hassles and long waits associated with your normal emergency centers.

Q: What is considered Emergent Medical Condition?

A: Both Federal and State law recognize the “prudent layperson standard” in determining what the patient feels is an emergency. A layperson is one who possesses an average knowledge of health and medicine, determines that a medical condition manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) that the person could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in placing the health of the individual.

Q: Do you provide medical services for children?

A: All of our physicians are trained in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with extensive emergency medicine experience; they are experienced in providing care to children of all ages, and for all types of emergencies and illnesses. We have equipment specially designed for pediatric patients, and an environment suited for the care of your children. We even have a special treatment room designed with kids in mind!

Q: What are the wait times?

A: In Altus Emergency Centers, our wait times are minimal. The majority of our patients will be seen within minutes of arrival by a trained emergency medicine physician.

Q: Can my prescriptions be sent directly to my local pharmacy?

A: We have the ability to electronically prescribe your medications to any area pharmacy that has the capability to receive them. We are also working with a pharmacy near our facility to deliver prescriptions to you at the emergency center to save you the time and hassle!

Q: What if I need to be admitted to a hospital?

A: Some medical condition may require a hospital stay for further evaluation or treatment. Altus Emergency Centers will offer you choices to pick from or we can transfer you to the hospital of your choice without any delays or problems. We will help you evaluate your needs to choose the best facility of care for you and your family.

Q: What insurance plans do you accept?

A. We accept most of all private and commercial insurances. We provide the most affordable, consumer friendly discount program for those who qualify. We have the most dedicated claims appeal department.

Q: What if you are not in my insurance network?

A: Both Federal and State law requires that your insurance pay for your Medical Emergency condition regardless of whether or not the provider is “in network” or “out of network”. Both Federal and State law protects “prudent layperson standard” in determining what you feel is an emergency. A layperson is one who possesses an average knowledge of health and medicine, determines that a medical condition manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) that the person could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in placing the patient’s health in serious jeopardy.

Q: What if my insurance cannot pay my bill or I cannot afford my balance?

A: We have a highly dedicated Medical Billing and Claim Specialists who will process your claim on your behalf and appeal effectively all claim denials. We offer financial assistance for financially qualified patients reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Altus Emergency Center offers the most transparent fee disclosure proactively to avoid any un-expected medical expenses or invoices. Q: What types of payments do you accept?

A: In addition to accepting conventional payments as in cash, checks and credit card payments, we accept HSA account. We offer most consumer friendly HSA reimbursement programs. According to industry report, on August 6 2013, the health savings accounts have reached an all time high at 18.1 billion dollars in savings available. Please check with your employer or human resources to determine if you still have HCHA savings.

Q: Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid insurance?

A: We are not contracted with Medicare and Medicaid, however we provide and offer all patients who present themselves with a free medical screening.
