Honor Our Heroes by Celebrating Safely

This Memorial Day, we encourage you to join us in paying tribute to our fallen heroes. Traditionally this special celebration is reserved for those courageous men and women in uniform who died protecting our freedom and way of life.

This year we are fighting a silent war against an invisible enemy who has taken the lives of far too many loved ones. The fight against COVID-19 has created a new type of hero in the form of healthcare workers and first responders. This year we would also like to honor them for paying the ultimate price while trying to keep us all safe.

To all our heroes and their families, we are eternally grateful.[/vc_column_text][us_image image=”24377″ size=”full”][vc_column_text]

Celebrating Memorial Day Safely

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, which means outdoor parties and BBQs are on everyone’s mind.

COVID-19 concerns surround this year’s celebrations. Therefore, we encourage you to use extra precautions and continue to follow all sanitary recommendations and practice social distancing. The good news is you can still have lots of fun.

Grill Safely

We are looking forward to spending time with our loved ones, and gathering around the grill to chat is something that comes naturally. However, this year, make sure to keep a safe distance of at least 6-feet between you and any other guests

During the summer months, we see our fair share of grill-related burn injuries. This year, we want to minimize these so please keep in mind these safety tips:

  • Don’t leave the grill unattended while you are using it.
  • Never add charcoal fluid, gasoline or other flammable substances to the coals once lit
  • Don’t grill inside the house, under a tent, inside a camper or any other enclosed area
  • Keep your kids and pets away from the grill once you’ve started the fire
  • Always grill in a well-ventilated area away from the house, trees, and anything that could catch fire
  • Use long-handled utensils made for grilling

Stay Close to Home

Many of us take advantage of the holiday to go on a long road trip. With the current public health crisis staying close to home is recommended. Instead of visiting friends and family who live far away, schedule a virtual video call to catch up.

Staying close to home can save you money and help lower the risk of infection. So plan to visit a nearby park, or take the family on a bike ride in your neighborhood.

Water Safety

If you plan on going to a pool party or tubing in a river, remember to follow all state and local officials’ safety recommendations.

Social distancing rules still apply even in the water. This means you need to be vigilant and keep a safe distance between you and other people who don’t live with you.

Also, don’t share snorkels, goggles, nose clips, or other personal items.

Honor Our Fallen Veterans

Memorial Day is the perfect time to pay our respects to our local fallen heroes if you can visit their graves and monuments in or around your community.

Call their relatives if you know them to let them know you are thinking of them, we guarantee it will mean the world to them.[/vc_column_text][us_image image=”24379″ size=”full”][us_separator size=”small”][us_cta title=”Need Help?
