Exciting News, Our Billing Department is Evolving!

The ability to adapt to an ever-changing landscape is a clear indicator of excellence. As such, at Altus, we continuously strive to improve our processes and make necessary structural changes so we can continue to offer the best service to our valued patients.

Our billing department is a cornerstone of our organization, and we applaud their continuous efforts to stay current with all billing laws, guidelines, and best practices.

To better manage the many responsibilities of our billing department, we’ve made some exciting structural changes that we are sure will help us stay organized while improving productivity and increasing employee, vendor, and patient satisfaction.

The billing department has five divisions that will handle specific tasks but continue working closely together. Each division has an assigned manager in charge of a work team. All sub-department managers report directly to Lorrie Soffes, our Director of Revenue Cycle.

We want to congratulate each billing staff member for their outstanding contributions, and it is with great pleasure that we announce the billing managers.

Lorrie Soffes – Director of Revenue Cycle

Lorrie’s an inspiration for her team. Her constant efforts to create a respectful and empowering work environment is one of the reasons our billing team excels at what they do.

Lorrie has worked in the healthcare sector for more than 23 years. During this time, she acquired the necessary knowledge and expertise to define and successfully implement policies aimed at helping the department grow, improve, and innovate all aspects of our revenue cycle processes.

Under the new structure, Lorrie will continue to oversee all billing processes for all locations and our Physicians Group.

Kelly Curtis – Billing Manager

Kelly is a veteran in medical insurance billing with more than 20 years of experience. She has graced our organization for seven years, starting as a payment poster.

Her impeccable work ethic and attention to detail did not go unnoticed, and two years ago, she earned a promotion to Billing Manager.

Kelly is a person who loves to learn and grow, which makes her the perfect fit here at Altus.

To accomplish her goals as Billing Manager, Kelly will rely on the help of her team:

Tammy Stuckey – Posting Manager

Another talented and experienced member of our staff, Tammy, has worked in medical billing for the last twenty years.

As Posting Manager, she oversees Policy and Procedures for the posting department. We are excited to have her spearheading this division, as we know she will do a fantastic job alongside her crew, comprised of:

Amy Powers – Appeals/Collections Manager

The process of appeals is a service our patients require, and they trust us to represent them every step of the way. Likewise, ensuring accurate and timely collections is what allows us to continue servicing the communities we value.

Therefore, it is no surprise that we chose Amy Powers to spearhead our billing department’s Appeals and Collections division. Amy will oversee all insurance providers’ collections and appeals processes for our Baytown, Lake Jackson, Lumberton, and Waxahachie locations with the help of her expert staff:

Raigan Julius – Mediation/Arbitration Manager

Raigan is thorough, loyal, and dedicated to her job. Raigan comes from a legal background giving her the edge needed to oversee the implementations and procedures of Mediation and Arbitration. Her role involves working closely with Amy Power’s collections team, as well as members of other divisions. Raigan is the Altus representative for all Mediations for the facilities and our Physician group arbitrations. In addition, she plays an instrumental part in the Altus Billing department, ensuring we are compliant and have the understanding needed to follow all state and federal laws.

Jennifer Broussard – Altus Physician Group (APG) Manager

With an impressive career spanning 24 years, Jennifer has worked in all aspects of the medical office, giving her a unique understanding of what it takes to achieve excellence in healthcare.

Jennifer’s contributions within Altus have allowed us to grow and expand our services for six years. Her unique skills and willingness to learn and make a difference are why we selected her as our Altus Physician Group Manager. Jenniffer will work alongside some equally extraordinary staff members, including:
