Altus Baytown Accepting Medicare Soon Announcement

What it Means for the Community

On Sunday, September 1st, 2019, the Altus Emergency Center in Baytown will be known as the Altus Baytown ER.

The alliance means that any resident, including Medicare patients, can now choose to receive more personalized and convenient emergency treatment.

Servicing the Senior Community.

Ten percent of the estimated 75,418 residents of Baytown is believed to be over 65 years of age.

The CDC has estimated that 15.6% of all emergency room visits are from patients 65 and older.

Most of these patients are on fixed incomes and depend on their Medicare coverage to receive treatment.

That meant that, up until now, the senior community of Baytown could not use their Medicare coverage to benefit from the quality and convenience of care offered by Altus Baytown ER.

However, with the recent Altus Baytown ER announcement, any Medicare patient can now choose to receive emergency treatment at a more convenient location, with NO WAIT TIMES, and personalized attention by board-certified in-house emergency physicians.

Medicare is Coming Soon! So What About the Coverage?

Patients who have Medicare Part A and Part B coverage, which covers emergency room visit costs will still be responsible for some out of pocket expenses, including:

  • A copayment for visiting the ER
  • A copayment for each hospital service they receive while in the ER
  • A coinsurance amount of 20% for the Medicare-approved cost for doctor services. Part B deductible applies.
Management at Altus Baytown ER stressed the importance of patients understanding their Medicare emergency room coverage. They also advise senior patients to acquire a Medicare Supplement plan to help cover some of the out-of-pocket expenses mentioned above.
