Studies and Formation

Victoria Henye, the Emergency Nurse Manager of Baytown at Altus Emergency graduated from Sandra Day O’Connor high school in Helotes, TX. Then, she proceeded to obtain an Associate Degree in Nursing at Houston Community College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington, pursuing Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington.

I am a lifetime learner. I love gaining understanding of new areas in life because it helps me to be a well-rounded individual and humbles me. I am not the same person I was yesterday, last week or five years ago.

A Professional with a True Calling

Her professional background includes having worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Houston Methodist from 2012 to 2016. As Victoria states, “…and now I’ve been fortunate enough to work at Altus Emergency Center in Baytown.” She was officially appointed the Emergency Nurse Manager on March 1st, 2018. In addition to being in the ER full time, she’s also been an educator and psychiatric nurse.

I enjoy nursing because at the end of the day, I really believe I’ve helped someone achieve their goals and helped them feel better. There is no other feeling like helping someone.

Q: “Why did you decide to go into healthcare administration?”
A: Victoria:

I want to help the staff feel like this is their home and really feel I can bring that attitude of gratitude so we learn to love each other more. Laughter and smiling is one of the best environments to be in so why not create that environment of caring and compassion for each other.

Q:What or who have been your biggest influences or your mentor?”
A: Victoria:

It’s difficult to say I’ve had one mentor or one big influence. My preceptors when I was a new graduate nurse, Roy and Derek, made the transition from student nurse to graduate to ER nurse a more than pleasant experience. Amir, my director has really guided me in every transition since our paths have aligned and those conversations have been priceless. Anil Menon, a friend and coworker has provided vast motivation and helped me center myself and grow emotionally and spiritually. My parents have been there from square one and always had my back. I’m beyond words to express how thankful I am for everyone in my life. I’m a very lucky and blessed person.

Q: “What would you consider are your biggest accomplishments?“
A: Victoria:

My biggest accomplishment has been to learn see the world with renewed faith after negative trials and tribulations. I am elated with my professional and personal progress and am excited to see what the future holds. Each accomplishment is a celebration so I cannot quantify just one.

Q: “What do you love the most about working with Altus ER?“
A: Victoria:

Family. We really care here. We do. I am happy to come to work and I feel like that is a goal everyone wishes to achieve.

Q: “Any Hobbies or passions?“
A: Victoria:

I really love learning and new experiences. I enjoy yoga, being active, traveling, board games and Netflix! Almost anything from TEDTalks, comedy, and psychological thrillers. I can’t get enough of my cats; I’m in love with animals. I’m also addicted to laughter and hugs.

Q: “Any Quotes that You Love in Particular that You Relate to?“
A: Victoria:

Two quotes I love to meditate on that my parents passed on to me.

“Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it,” by George Ellis.

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change,” by Wayne Dyer.
