Flu Season, No Problem! We’re In-Network, Baytown!

GREAT NEWS, YOU HAVE BETTER ER OPTIONS!

Altus Baytown ER is Now In-Network with More Insurance Options.  Together, we can all Fight the Flu.

We should never downplay the dangers of flu season. This year, as the coronavirus continues to spread in our communities, we need to double our efforts to prevent getting sick.  Fortunately, as Baytown ER is in-network with many more insurance options, there’s no reason why you should risk your health – come in for a free medical screening!

Let us explore the many reasons why you should take flu season seriously.

The Effects of Flu Season in America

very year millions of Americans get sick with the flu. This year many experts are hopeful we will have a milder flu season like other countries, including Australia, have had, but nothing is certain.

Last year was a particularly tough season. According to the CDC, this past flu season, we had:

  • 38 million flu-related illnesses
  • 18 million medical visits
  • An estimated 405,000 hospitalizations
  • 22,000 deaths

Last year, the most affected age groups were children under the age of 4 and adults aged 18-49. But the flu can impact everyone’s lives regardless of age, so we all need to take precautions.

Flu Season in the Age of COVID-19

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, continues to spread indiscriminately through our communities.

Viral respiratory illnesses like the common cold, the flu, and COVID-19, although caused by different viruses, can have similar symptoms. So how can you be sure if you have the flu?

The following chart can help you determine the type of illness you may have. However, refrain from auto diagnosing. When you feel sick, you should always speak to a medical professional about your symptoms.

And if your symptoms are severe, don’t hesitate to come to Altus Baytown ER. Remember, we are now an in-network facility for Aetna, Cigna, and BCBS, and we also accept Medicare patients.

Together We Can Help Prevent the Flu

Altus Baytown ER is proud to support the CDC’s #FightFlu campaign to help stop the influenza virus spread.

There is no cure for the flu, and nobody can guarantee you won’t get sick this year, but these simple steps can help lower your risk.

Get Vaccinated!

Getting a yearly flu vaccine is vital to protect ourselves against flu viruses. Vaccination is especially important this year, so make sure to get yourself and your family vaccinated as soon as possible.

The CDC recommends everyone 6-months or older get an annual flu vaccine. Together we can protect ourselves, our families, and our neighbors.

Maintain Physical Distance

Many respiratory viruses spread through tiny droplets expelled when an infected person speaks, sneezes, or coughs. By staying a safe distance away (at least 6-feet) from people who do not live with you, you can reduce your risk of infection.

Wear a Mask When Out in Public

Face coverings help prevent droplets from becoming airborne, and this can help stop the spread of viruses.

If You do Get Sick, Ask Your Doctor About Antiviral Medications

If you happen to get sick with the flu, speak to your doctor. Describe your symptoms and ask if antiviral medications are suitable for you.

This type of medication can help relieve symptoms and shorten the time you are sick

Blue Cross Blue Shield – Altus Baytown ER is Now In-Network!

HELLO, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD!

Altus Baytown ER is Now In-Network with Even More Insurance Options!

Blue Cross Blue Shield Patients Can Now Enjoy Better Healthcare!

We have exciting news! Throughout the year, Altus Baytown ER has been on a mission to expand it’s insurance coverage options to provide better healthcare for Baytown and the surrounding communities.  We took the first step back on September 1st, 2019, when we first transitioned to become the preferred outpatient ER of Altus Baytown Hospital, allowing our facility to take Medicare patients.  Then, back on January 2020, we officially became an in-network provider of CIGNA

Then, the world changed.  After the COVID-19 virus was declared a pandemic, we foresaw a great need for safe, efficient, fast ER care for the community that was eminent.  We took action immediately.

As a result, on August 2020, we announced that we had become in-network with Aetna and Aetna TRS, Cigna, and Cigna Health Spring.  This was great news for the whole community!  Still, we knew there was more work to be done to help more get premium ER care.

For this reason, we are proud to announce that as of October 2020, Altus Baytown ER is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS).

What is the Difference Between In-Network and Out-of-Network Providers?

Insurance companies negotiate service rates with a network of facilities to help provide better prices for their members.

The healthcare facilities that agree to offer their services at the negotiated discount rate are considered to be in-network providers.

Any hospital or emergency room that does not have a contract with the insurance company is an out-of-network provider.

Altus Baytown ER the location is Now In-Network with Cigna!

So, What Does This Mean to YOU?

As we mentioned before, you will receive the best emergency care possible, with guaranteed low wait times.

Additionally, when you come to our facility in Baytown our Patient Advocate can now examine your healthcare plan in detail.

Our team of experts will explain your benefits and provide you with a general overview of where your deductible is today, what you could pay once processed through the ER, as well as the copay associated with your insurance plan.

What this does is eliminate a lot of the confusion and guesswork that is so often associated with the billing process at an out-of-network facility.

IN A NUTSHELL, THIS MEANS PEACE OF MIND.  You will have contracted rates with your insurance company, which means your insurance will pay for some or all of the services you receive from us.

Altus Baytown ER Benefits

  • Excellent Care
  • Top-rated Doctors, Nurses, and Technicians
  • Low or No Wait Times
  • Better Service Rates
  • Clear Explanation of Benefits
  • Less Confusion During the Billing Process

Altus Emergency Centers is continuously evolving and improving our level of service. Our Altus Baytown ER facility, the preferred outpatient ER of Altus Hospital, is a clear example of how we are shaping the future of emergency care.

Are In-Network Emergency Rooms Better than Out of Network ER’s?

Not necessarily. The quality of care you receive at an ER center is not dependent on them being part of a network or not.

Rather it depends on the quality of doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff they have working for them as well as the diagnostic equipment they have in their facilities.

All Altus Emergency Centers are known to provide more personalized care and significantly lower wait times. Additionally, we strive to hire only the best doctors, nurses, and technicians to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible.

Moreover, we continuously invest in new technologies that provide faster, more accurate test results that help our physicians make the right diagnosis.

Why Altus Emergency Centers is Different

We’ve always prided ourselves on the high quality of our care, and our patients agree, our staff always goes above and beyond the call of duty.

However, some of our patients expressed their concerns regarding their out-of-pocket expenses for the services we provided, not only did we understand we agreed that we could do better. So we set out to find a solution that worked, and we found it.
