The Best ER in Baytown will be Caring for Grandma & Grandpa
Altus Emergency Centers is soon to be a department of the Altus Baytown Hospital and will start accepting Medicare on September 1st. This new acceptance of Medicare patients will take place at the 1404 W. Baker Rd. location.
What it Means for the Community
On Sunday, September 1st, 2019, the Altus Emergency Center in Baytown will be known as the Altus Baytown ER.
The alliance means that any resident, including Medicare patients, can now choose to receive more personalized and convenient emergency treatment.
Servicing the Senior Community.
Ten percent of the estimated 75,418 residents of Baytown is believed to be over 65 years of age.
The CDC has estimated that 15.6% of all emergency room visits are from patients 65 and older.
Most of these patients are on fixed incomes and depend on their Medicare coverage to receive treatment.
That meant that, up until now, the senior community of Baytown could not use their Medicare coverage to benefit from the quality and convenience of care offered by Altus Baytown ER.
However, with the recent Altus Baytown ER announcement, any Medicare patient can now choose to receive emergency treatment at a more convenient location, with NO WAIT TIMES, and personalized attention by board-certified in-house emergency physicians.
Medicare is Coming Soon! So What About the Coverage?
Patients who have Medicare Part A and Part B coverage, which covers emergency room visit costs will still be responsible for some out of pocket expenses, including:
- A copayment for visiting the ER
- A copayment for each hospital service they receive while in the ER
- A coinsurance amount of 20% for the Medicare-approved cost for doctor services. Part B deductible applies.
Management at Altus Baytown ER stressed the importance of patients understanding their Medicare emergency room coverage. They also advise senior patients to acquire a Medicare Supplement plan to help cover some of the out-of-pocket expenses mentioned above.
What Will the Partnership’s Immediate Benefits be for Senior Patients?
Altus Baytown ER is known for its high standards in quality medical emergency care. With guaranteed minimal wait times, patients benefit from more face time with physicians as well as from more personalized treatment.
Once the alliance takes place, Altus Baytown ER will be able to provide service of any resident of Baytown, Liberty, Dayton, and Crosby, and other surrounding areas regardless of age.
The Altus Baytown ER is certified to handle the full spectrum of services offered by hospital emergency room departments.
Physicians are present 24/7, including holidays, and patients don’t need to schedule appointments or call beforehand.
Altus Baytown ER can triage and stabilize critical patients before referring them to the main hospital.

Patients over 65 who have a Medicare plan, should visit the Altus Baytown ER when they:
- Suffer a fall or other type of injury
- Have sustained a deep laceration
- Are complaining of chest pains
