We Stand with Our Community

These past few months as a community, we’ve faced some hard times with the spread of COVID-19. The pandemic affected us all in one way or another; our children can’t attend school; many workplaces closed down, and we had to learn about social distancing.

Through this entire ordeal, Altus Emergency Centers has remained open, taking care of our friends and neighbors, and we plan to continue doing so.

That is why we wanted to share with you how we are helping our communities cope with the public health crisis and stay safe and healthy.

Can You Get Tested for COVID-19 At Altus Emergency Centers?

The first thing we wanted to address is our testing capabilities. As of right now, the Department Of State And Health Services (DSHS) does not allow freestanding ERs, such as Altus Emergency Centers, to do outpatient testing.

Therefore, if you come to us with symptoms related to COVID-19, we can examine you as an ER visit and take a sample and send it to an authorized laboratory for testing if the physician deems necessary.

Free Medical Screenings

All patients who visit our emergency centers receive a free medical screening by one of our physicians. After the evaluation and based on symptoms, the physician will make a medical decision to order or not order a COVID-19 test.

As a patient, you have the right to agree or disagree to be seen by a physician. If you agree, your visit is considered an emergency room visit. For those with commercial insurance, the CARE Act ensures no out of pocket expenses related to the diagnostic test. Altus Emergency Centers are required to follow these federal rules.

Partnerships for Non-Emergency Needs

It’s not always easy for us as patients to determine if our symptoms or injury requires emergency attention or not, especially when we are scared.

You don’t have to worry; you can come to any one of our centers and let our medical staff evaluate your situation.

At Altus Emergency Centers, we don’t just take care of your health; we also take care of your wallet. We have partnered with local urgent care and other community facilities to provide more cost-effective options for those interested with a non-emergency need.

Additionally, we also can refer patients without symptoms to our county resources.

We are living in difficult, stressful, and scary times. However, Altus Emergency Centers is proud to be a member of the community. The outpouring of support from the local authorities and neighbors who are organizing to look after each other inspires us every day.

Altus Emergency Centers stands with our communities. We are confident we will get through this by working together and taking care of one another. Stay safe and healthy.
